The prognosis was reasonably good before noon, but is now getting worse by the hour. Oh well, it will be a noisy night and probably an even more miserable morning!!

Photographing while black...
The Artist's Statement
A, well... quite squalid tale of the effects of having a camera, a notepad, "homeland security" and being black in America...
I have noticed that a strange effect often comes over people when they notice that you have a camera in your hand, and some have some rather strange ideas about what they can tell other people in public what to do...

meta data
a meta data system for images is finally being rolled out: images should now be followed by a relatively relevant description, and all photo pages will eventually have appropriate meta tags [keywords and descriptions].
this was a project some seven months in gestation, with the data extraction from almost a thousand static pages done in a weekend, thanks be to find, grep and sed.
this may even lead [one day, in the not-so-distant future] to reasonably accurate search results. possibly.
