Berkeley Breathed explains why he is ending his comic strip "Opus"

He's afraid the bitterness in US politics will contaminate the strip - I guess this reflects a transition from the political opposition that was the hallmark of Bloom County and the anti-Regan 80s to a more visceral and uncompromising loathing that marks US politics in the beginning of the 21st century. Hard to tell whether Breathed's clear antipathy to Hilary Clinton's scorched earth politics reflects this or is actually driving his decision - I suspect the latter.
